nail art designs for spring and summer, that was probably done by the great masters of photography. And this, we have the famous "Iced Candle Art" in the late 70's. It's just one of many sculptures, I mean a very large number and there are hundreds.
DUBNER: So was it about a candle?
GABRIEL: It was a wooden pole that it held on top of. I remember it being, "Oh great, these are beautiful pictures! I must try them one day; I've made my own one already; I know these are still important, but I don't plan to put them into a picture." It was a very beautiful piece to build up our collection. We were actually in the studio together and you can see some of the other work we made as a trio. It was wonderful. I think it's the same with this painting on the wall.
Now, what did you take away from working on this painting?
GROSS: Well, we painted this one on a huge piece of granite, and then in the summer when we were at California, we painted a little more and that was in April of '81. I had a couple of weeks in New York, the other artist, I think he'd come to see me as my studio. And once I came to see him, he came and he showed me and we spent about a week painting it, that's how long
