The scene was shot by the photographer, a 17-year-old Dutchman named Tom De Cerny who wanted to share his passion for photojournalism with his friends and family from afar.
"They invited me to shoot in Amsterdam, there I was going, looking for inspiration," the photographer explains about how the photos were designed and shot.
After being made to take in some beautiful shots of Amsterdam, the rest of the trip took place to take photos of the city to show the people all around.
So they started at this lovely, lovely spot (the blue sky at this point really has a lovely glow) and took a couple of shots of Amsterdam from different angles and were told to come back with the same ideas.
"I was actually quite surprised to encounter a bunch of little Dutch people there on their way home from their Christmas holidays, and it wasn't very friendly that evening."
At the heart of the photo of Amsterdam is the city's famous river – The River Oeuwet, which literally means "one of three places to come together at night on our journey". At the time the Netherlands was still under the Dutch occupation and many of its people had died over and over again.
It wasn't until last year when Van Begg, the Dutch president, told the public about how the city would be better off if it were in Dutch hands.
